 Chelsea a remporté un troisième titre historique consécutif de Super League féminine de manière spectaculaire le dernier jour de la saison avec une victoire sur Manchester United. Sam Kerr a marqué deux superbes volées en seconde période alors que Chelsea revenait par derrière dans un thriller de six buts. Les Bleus, qui remportent la ligue par un point sur Arsenal, deuxième, savaient que la victoire leur donnerait le titre.

Manchester United menait 2-1 à la mi-temps avant le doublé de Kerr et une frappe de Guro Reiten à Kingsmeadow. Arsenal s’est imposé 2-0 à West Ham mais a dû se contenter de la deuxième. C’est la première fois dans l’histoire de la WSL qu’une équipe remporte le titre en trois saisons consécutives et l’équipe d’Emma Hayes peut en faire un doublé national avec une victoire sur Manchester City lors de la finale de la FA Cup dimanche prochain à Wembley. Manchester United termine la saison à la quatrième place et manque la qualification pour la Ligue des champions de l’année prochaine – bien que la victoire 4-0 de Manchester City à Reading signifiait qu’une victoire de United n’aurait pas été suffisante. Les fans étaient debout à temps plein et ont chanté « Champions d’Angleterre, nous savons qui nous sommes » lors d’une journée joyeuse qui conclut l’une des saisons WSL les plus excitantes depuis son introduction.

Chelsea won a historic third successive Women's Super League title in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season with victory over Manchester United. Sam Kerr scored two stunning volleys in the second half as Chelsea came from behind in a six-goal thriller. The Blues, who win the league by a point over second-placed Arsenal, knew victory would give them the title. Manchester United led 2-1 at half-time before Kerr's double and a Guro Reiten strike at Kingsmeadow. Arsenal won 2-0 at West Ham but had to settle for finishing as runners-up.

It is the first time in WSL history that a club has won the title in three successive seasons and Emma Hayes' side can make it a domestic double with victory over Manchester City in next Sunday's FA Cup final at Wembley. Manchester United finish the season in fourth place and miss out on qualification for next year's Champions League - although Manchester City's 4-0 win at Reading meant a United victory would not have been enough. Fans were on their feet at full-time and sang "Champions of England, we know who we are" on a joyous day which concludes one of the most thrilling WSL seasons since its introduction.

Fran Kirby will not feature in Chelsea's Women's Super League finale against Manchester United today but is "feeling in a better place", boss Emma Hayes has said. The forward has not played for the Chelsea or England since February, with Hayes saying she has been suffering with a fatigue-related issue. Hayes confirmed at her press conference ahead of Sunday's match that Kirby remained unavailable, and when asked for an update on the 28-year-old, she said: "I don't think I do have a clear answer. "It's fatigue-related. It's nothing major. What I know is that she's getting a lot of support and help. She has been out to Barcelona and we've been giving her support around how to manage her fatigue, so all the strategies, from nutrition to recovery...

"I think probably the next (thing) is getting the volume right now she's feeling in a better place, and I think the most important thing is that it's about Fran. "She's on the grass, she's training, she's back in individual sessions. That might progress next week, and I think then we'll take it from there. "And I know she won't mind me saying this, she has to take it one step at a time. I don't think she's thinking of the summer or a game next week. "We just have to take it one step at a time and I think we've got underneath how to handle some of her symptoms of fatigue, which is the main thing." After being out of action from November 2019 having been diagnosed with pericarditis, Kirby returned to help Chelsea win a treble last season and was named WSL, PFA and FWA player of the year. She had scored six goals in 13 WSL games this term before taking time out.
