Last week's victory left Villarreal only one point below Valencia in the table standings, and Submarino's coach Juan Carlos Garrido knows a victory is mandatory this week in Madrid to secure Villarreal's qualification for the next edition of the Champions League. Quique Sanchez Flores' Colchoneros are going through a rough time, and they need a victory to have an easier time as they visit the Santiago Bernabeu and Cornella-El-Prat in the weeks to come. Both squads have powerful attacking duos: Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan on one side, Giuseppe Rossi and Nilmar on the other. A massive clash of forces is expected, and let's not forget that 21 goals have been scored the last five times Atletico and Villarreal faced each other. Rojiblancos' coach recovers Tomas Ujfalusi in the back line, but misses Luis Antonio Perea. Inter Milan will continue their Champions League defence as they host Schalke in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night. Then with time running out, Goran Pandev popped up in the 88th minute to make it 3-3 on aggregate and send Inter through on away goals. Under new coach Rafa Benitez, Inter had looked a shadow of the side that Jose Mourinho led to the treble last season, but since the Spaniard was replaced by Leonardo in December the Nerazzurri have got themselves back in the Serie A title race while mounting that late comeback in Munich. Inter were then given a boost by avoiding Europe's big-boys in the quarter-final draw, although their preparations for the first leg against Schalke were dealt a blow as league leaders and derby rivals AC Milan beat them 3-0 on Saturday to inflict their first league defeat in seven matches.

After enduring a topsy-turvy start to his Fulham career, Mark Hughes has admitted that he always believed the second half of the campaign would be the time his team would shine. Carlo Ancelotti sang the praises of new boy David Luiz ahead of his side’s derby date at Craven Cottage, and suggested he could become world class. Speaking to the club’s website ahead of the game, he said: “I think he will be one of the best defenders in the world in the future. He is young but has fantastic experience; he played in Benfica and the Champions League. We are upset because he cannot play in the Champions League for us but he can show his quality in the Premier League and FA Cup. "With David Luiz we can have more rotation and maintain freshness in the other defenders. Yes, it's a mere 1-0-0 record, and yes, it's a reminder of the impact that brutal 8-away-games-in-first-ever-10-matches had on the club's record last year, but hey, it's better than being 0-1-0, and Union fans will surely take what they can get. The Red White Army should count themselves lucky, as they escaped a scare in their first leg against the French outfit. Two goals from Wilfred Bouma and Ola Toivonen in the dying minutes of the match somehow secured a result for the Boeren, as they were outclassed on the pitch by the French outfit. Despite claiming a positive result, PSV manager Fred Rutten was not pleased with his side’s show on the pitch.
Les Dogues were stunned last week in their Europa League encounter against PSV, when they conceded two goals in the dying minutes of the match in front of their home crowd. LOSC’s focus was completely shattered with the Europa League draw as the Ligue 1 leaders lost their domestic encounter against Montpellier HSC Despite the loss, they remain atop the Ligue 1 table. Many expected the French outfit to be eliminated in the group stages, but the Mastiffs squeezed through after finishing second in their group. Heading into the new year Inter were a disaster. The Italian and European champions may have won the Club Word Cup but the dismissal of Rafael Benitez as coach and the introduction of Leonardo, who has just one season of top-flight football management experience, did invite a large cloud of doubt over the Nerazzurri’s ambitions this campaign.

But two wins in two matches under the 41-year-old Brazilian have refurbished the Beneamata and have made them re-adopt hope again. Perhaps it would be pre-mature to suggest that Inter are back in the Scudetto race or have resurrected themselves, but the comprehensive victory over Napoli at San Siro and then the hard-fought win against Catania who had lost just one home game all season prior to Sunday's defeat does exhibit the rediscovery of confidence of the players.

There is no dressing up the fact that Bremen are in trouble. Every week Thomas Schaaf and co must wonder when the club's fortunes will improve, only for things to get even worse. Last weekend's 4-0 defeat in the Nord derby to rivals Hamburg was a sickening experience for all concerned with the club, especially 250 fans in particular who sought answers from the team. Their is certainly a contrast in fortunes between the two sides heading into Sunday's crucial game between Bremen and Leverkusen. Leverkusen come into the game on the back of a 4-2 victory over Stuttgart and a 6-0 aggregate win in the Europa League over Metalist Kharkiv to send die Werkself into the last 16.

  It has been an amazing few days for Madridistas. After a humiliating 5-0 loss at the Camp Nou, Real Madrid have bounced back. After a hard fought draw in the second Clasico at Santiago Bernabeu, Los Galacticos finally ended their trophy drought by beating FC Barcelona 1-0 courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo (Yes, he does have the ability to score against Barcelona apparently) in a tense and thrilling battle, in which each half was dominated by one another. Jorge Valdano called it a heroic accomplishment, while Perez noted that they showed the world who is on top. Real Madrid celebrated the victory with 150000 fans at the Cibeles; the party continued till dawn, as We are the Champions boomed from the loud speakers amid plenty of fireworks.

 The focus now shifts to the next set of Clasicos, obviously the most important ones of the season; but before that, Real Madrid need to make the trip again to Mestalla to take on Valencia for a very crucial match. Real Madrid’s confidence will be high after winning the Copa Del Rey in eighteen years, and they would love to continue their momentum by beating the third best team in the Liga. Roberto Soldado has confirmed that his team would give  the guard of honor for the newly-crowned Copa del Rey winners at the Mestalla. Valencia has been in fine form, having won their last three matches, including an unbelievable 5-0 thrashing of Villarreal. Unai Emery has been a fine manager, leading his players and coping extremely well with the departure of the two Davids-Villa and Silva. Valencia are six points ahead of Villarreal, and would like to keep the same distance with only six games to go for the season. If Valencia manage to win five more times, it would give them their highest point tally ever in the La Liga – the previous being 77 points accumulated under Rafa Benitez, on their way to La Liga glory in 2002-03.

Bolton Wanderers face Stoke City  on Sunday, April 17, 2011 in the semi-final of the FA Cup. And by the time the teams walk out onto the Wembley turf they will already know who they will face, as the other semi-final between Manchester City and Manchester United takes place the day before.
Owen Coyle’s Bolton Wanderers come into this match on a mixed run of form. Their fine 3-0 win over West Ham United on Saturday was preceded by two league defeats to Manchester United and Birmingham City. Before that their league run had seen them draw away to Newcastle United and beat Everton at home. They are lying eighth in the Premiership, but a full 10 points behind Tottenham Hotspur who hold the vital Europa League place.
Stoke City is only five points behind Bolton, but more crucially is only six points above the relegation zone and cannot therefore relax just yet, though manager Tony Pulis is probably feeling quietly confident that they will avoid the drop. Recent form has been mixed with their last three Premiership games seeing a win over Newcastle United, an impressive draw against Chelsea and a defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

Bolton Wanderers had to battle hard in the quarter finals to secure their place in the semis. They were drawn away at Birmingham City and won the ding-dong match 3-2. Johan Elmander gave them the lead after 20 minutes but Cameron Jerome equalised for Birmingham City shortly afterwards. Bolton again took the lead at 60 minutes through Kevin Davies from the penalty spot. But Birmingham still had fire and equalised again with just 10 minutes to go through Kevin Phillips. It was down to South Korean international Chung-Yong Lee to head the winner in the last minute. The Wanderers had a 2-0 home win over non-league York City to begin their campaign before being held at home to a goalless draw against local rivals Wigan Atheltic. It took a 66th minute winner by Ivan Klasnic in the replay to get them into the fifth round, where they had to travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham. An early goal by Ivan Klasnic secured the 1-0 win.

Stoke City had a tough 2-1 win over Premiership strugglers West Ham United in the quarter finals. Defender Robert Huth put them in the lead early in the game before Frederic Piquionne equalised shortly afterwards. It took a goal by another defender – Danny Higginbotham – on the hour mark to secure the victory. City started their Cup run nervously with a 1-1 home draw against Championship side Cardiff City before winning the replay 2-0 after extra time. This set up a local derby away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, which they won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Huth. The fifth round saw them win comfortably 3-0 against Brighton & Hove Albion.
