If the men’s team set the standard with back-to-back Old Firm victories under Derek McInnes, Leanne Crichton’s Rangers side just raised the bar entirely. In a breathless, pulsating derby at Broadwood Stadium, Rangers Women put Celtic to the sword in a 5-2 thumping that maintained their perfect 100 per cent SWPL record – and completed a glorious club-wide derby hat-trick. The afternoon, however, did not begin according to plan. Celtic struck early, taking a 12th-minute lead through Maria McAneny to silence the home support. But if this Rangers team have proven anything during their flawless start to the campaign, it is that they do not panic. Step forward, Jodi McLeary. The forward dragged Rangers right back into the contest with a moment of pure quality, unleashing a stunning volley finish to level the scores before completing her double shortly after to turn the game on its head.

Even when Celtic fought back to equalise at 2-2 early in the second half through Chloe Arthur, Crichton showed her tactical genius from the dugout. Enter Hannah Blake. Introduced off the bench with the match sitting on a knife-edge, Blake made an instantaneous impact – reinstating Rangers’ lead with her very first involvement just seconds after stepping onto the pitch. From that moment on, the floodgates opened. Katie Wilkinson then delivered the crowning moment of the afternoon, stepping up to unleash a spectacular free-kick that flew straight into the top-left corner to double the advantage. Calliste Brookshire rounded off the 5-2 scoring with a slick finish of her own, putting the exclamation mark on a completely dominant second-half performance.
