The Spirit played Racing Louisville to a 2-2 draw on Friday night. Rosemonde Kouassi notched two assists on the night while the Spirit’s goals came from Sofia Cantore and Leicy Santos. Midfielder Andi Sullivan made her first appearance since Oct. 6, 2024, and Leicy Santos and Trinity Rodman left the match due to injuries. Kayla Fischer scored Racing Louisville’s first goal in the 28th minute. The third-year veteran received a pass at the top of the box and fired a bouncing effort with her left foot, beating Sandy MacIver to her right. Just before halftime, club starlet and U.S. Women’s National Team talent Emma Sears sprinted the length of the pitch to score the club’s second goal. Clearing their defensive third in the 43rd minute, Sears ignited a counterattack that spanned the length of the pitch. Once in the box, she beat Tara Rudd on the ball before sailing one past Sandy MacIver.

In the 50th minute, the Spirit finally got on the board. Rosemonde Kouassi centered the ball to Sofia Cantore, who was about 10 yards outside the top of the box. She squared her boots and fired a rocket from distance, beating goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer for the Spirit’s first goal. Kouassi sent a phenomenal cross into the center of the box from the right wing in the 74th minute to Leicy Santos to tie the game. With her second assist of the match, Kouassi sent a low cross behind multiple attackers but right on time for a pacing Santos. The Colombian international fired a low shot that skimmed the grass on its way to the lower left corner, beating Bloomer. The Spirit earned a hard-fought point on the road. They’ll savor their win and return home to prepare for their clash with the Utah Royals. That home match will take place on Wednesday, March 25, at 7:00 PM at Audi Field.
