Kaizer Chiefs were crowned victors by a remarkable 12 points. Runners up and champions of the previous season Mamelodi Sundowns had a disappointing campaign. This season was the second season in a row that Amakhosi and Sundowns went blow for blow for league honours. Last season the two teams had a similar tug of war for the title which Sundowns won in the end. But this season the tables turned, Chiefs held on to their early lead at the top of the table to come out as champions. This battle between these two giants has been an interesting one with plenty of twists and turns, comebacks, controversies, and humorous moments (mainly from Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane)
