La sélection du Japon est entrée dans l'histoire du football asiatique en décrochant son quatrième titre continental après s'être imposée en finale, samedi face à l'Australie. La rencontre est venue clore 23 jours d'une compétition largement suivie sur le continent asiatique. La 15ème édition de la Coupe d'Asie des Nations de l'AFC 2011 touche à sa fin. Les Blue Samouraïs quittent donc le tournoi invaincus au terme d'un excellent parcours. Le Japon, champion d'Asie pour la quatrième fois, représentera l'Asie lors de la Coupe des Confédérations de la FIFA au Brésil en 2013. L'Australie s'incline quant à elle pour sa première finale disputée à ce jour dans cette épreuve.
