China faced Tajikistan in the third match of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ on 13 January 2024. The kick-off of the first match in Group A took place at 5:30 pm at Qatar's Abdulla Bin Khalifa Stadium. This was Tajikistan's first-ever appearance in the prestigious tournament. The first half ended in a goalless draw between the teams, but in the 82nd minute, what seemed like a goal for China got ruled out after a VAR review. The match ended at 99 minutes (90+9) with a draw with no goals scored by either of the two countries (0-0). The other match for 13 January 2024 was Australia versus India, where the former won with a score of 2-0. Later in the day, Uzbekistan will play against Syria at 8:30 pm at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
