A-League United Round 2023 2024: Ladies First Wellington Phoenix Central Coast Mariners

After a series of missteps and limited success capitalising on the momentum generated by the Matildas and Socceroos on the global stage, the A-Leagues’ decision to follow the lead of the NRL and AFL with a single-city round is about to be put to the test. In their latest effort to generate hype among football fans who too often snub the top-tier national competitions, both domestic leagues descend on Sydney for Unite Round this weekend. Joining together in Sydney to play top tier football over three glorious days, the first Unite Round for the 2023/2024 season hosts all 24 teams from both the Liberty and Isuzu-UTE A-League competitions. With lots of activities for fans and Members to enjoy, and prizes up for grabs.

Wellington Phoenix’s once-promising A-League Women campaign continues to nose dive.  Paul Temple's team suffered their third defeat in a row in Sydney on Friday night when they threw away an early lead to lose 2-1 to a clinical Central Coast Mariners side during the inaugural Unite Round. The result continued the Phoenix’s rotten run outside New Zealand, having now lost their last five games on the road.
