A-League United Round 2023 2024: Ladies First Melbourne Victory Perth Golry

After a series of missteps and limited success capitalising on the momentum generated by the Matildas and Socceroos on the global stage, the A-Leagues’ decision to follow the lead of the NRL and AFL with a single-city round is about to be put to the test. In their latest effort to generate hype among football fans who too often snub the top-tier national competitions, both domestic leagues descend on Sydney for Unite Round this weekend. Joining together in Sydney to play top tier football over three glorious days, the first Unite Round for the 2023/2024 season hosts all 24 teams from both the Liberty and Isuzu-UTE A-League competitions. With lots of activities for fans and Members to enjoy, and prizes up for grabs.

Glory came from behind to secure a battling 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory in Friday’s Liberty A-League Unite Round fixture at Sydney’s Leichhardt Oval. In-form forward Rachel Lowe headed the navy-and-whites in front with 28 minutes played, but Alex Epakis’ side responded on the hour-mark as Jamilla Rankin glanced Hana Lowry’s superb corner into the roof of her own net. Both sides pushed strongly for a winner in the latter stages, with Claudia Mihocic striking the crossbar for the visitors, but ultimately the spoils were shared and Glory closed the gap on leaders Melbourne City to five points.
