Fourth successive league title, most wins in a WSL season, most points accrued across a campaign. Chelsea have not looked their best at times, the absences of Fran Kirby and Pernille Harder for much of the season disrupted their rhythm and the defensive rock Millie Bright was a loss late on. Chuck in five weeks without the manager, Emma Hayes, as she recovered from her emergency hysterectomy and this has been a truly remarkable campaign. The Blues have had to dig deep and win ugly on occasions. Excellent squad management has been key to their success, with players stepping up in May when most needed

FIXTURES 2023 2024

With an exciting summer of World Cup action ahead and Barclays WSL attendances up 170% last season, the stage is set to drive the popularity of the game forward yet again, with many clubs making bigger ‘main’ stadia scheduling pledges for the season ahead.  The BWSL campaign is due to kick-off on 1 October, as champions Chelsea open their campaign at Stamford Bridge against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, while Arsenal take on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in round one and Aston Villa welcome Manchester United to Villa Park.  The Championship begins on Saturday 26 August, with newly-promoted Watford welcoming Durham in the opening weekend as last season’s runners-up Birmingham City make an early trip to Blackburn Rovers.  The ever-popular Women’s Football Weekend makes a return from 23-24 March 2024, with new and existing fans encouraged to celebrate the game by attending fixtures across the women’s pyramid during an international window in the men’s calendar.
