The women of Ajax took revenge against Feyenoord on the last day of play before the winter break in the Women’s Eredivisie. In Amsterdam Ajax won 2-0, keeping the lead. FC Twente took out against the last (1-9) Excelsior and PSV defeated ADO Den Haag (2-0). This keeps the tension to cut.

Prior to The Classic with the women, both rivals were equal to the top of the Eredivisie. This was especially surprising for Feyenoord, active at the highest level for the first time this season.

The 4-1 victory in the previous confrontation with Ajax gave Feyenoord the confidence that it could compete in the Eredivisie. However, that was with 2,500 supporters in the stands in South Rotterdam. A big difference, trainer Danny Mulder realizes. “We are not a title candidate. Not at all”, Mulder said beforehand. “Of course we try to stay at the top for as long as possible, but that is not realistic.”
