Chippa United remain winless after two games into the new season following their goalless draw with TS Galaxy at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Morgan Mammila had kicked off his second spell at the club with a 0-0 draw against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday and the Chilli Boys drew blanks again, although they did manage to keep two clean sheets in a row. Galaxy remain unbeaten as well after getting their campaign underway with a 1-0 victory over Cape Town Spurs at the weekend. Chippa won just three home games last season and were hoping to get off to a positive start in Gqeberha on this occasion, while the Rockets looked to arrest a four-match winless run on the road. There was no shortage of chances as both teams had an early sniff at goal, with Thabiso Lebitso pushing his shot wide of the right post from range in the sixth minute before Bernard Parker curled an effort inches past the upright at the other end moments later.

Augustine Mulenga also failed to hit the target for the hosts on 10 minutes after latching onto Azola Ntsabo's pass inside the area and Galaxy would threaten to break the deadlock midway through the first half when Kamogelo Sebelebele forced Stanley Nwabali into a save before Thamsanqa Gabuza fired narrowly wide of the goal on the rebound. The action quickly switched to the opposite end of the pitch as Luvuyo Memela tested Vasilije Kolak with a strike from inside the area on 25 minutes, while Ronaldo Maarman steered a header wide of the right post from Mulenga's cross in the 32nd minute.

Back came the visitors, with Gabuza drawing a fine save out of Nwabali three minutes later after receiving the ball on the right from Sphiwe Mahlangu and the final chance of the half fell to Chippa as Mulenga dragged an effort wide of the far post from inside the box on the right two minutes before halftime.Kolak was quickly called into action at the start of the second half to deny Azola Ntsabo, who took aim from distance in the 48th minute, and Parker gave Nwabali some work do to on 66 minutes after also trying his luck from range. Mlungisi Mbunjana then went close on two occasions in quick succession as he sent a header narrowly over the bar from a 76th-minute corner and just cleared the target with a strike from range soon afterwards. However, the action tapered off in the closing stages and the two teams had to settle for a share of the spoils in the Windy City.
