Adelaide United has lost 1-0 to Melbourne City on Sunday evening in Matchweek 12 of the Liberty A-League 2022/23 season. A second half goal from the hosts was enough to steal all three points from Adrian Stenta’s side, despite their best efforts on the road. Dylan Holmes was the liveliest Red in the opening 45 minutes, making a number of lung-busting runs through the midfield and fashioning a few chances, however they weren’t enough to beat the City ‘keeper. First half chances to Chelsie Dawber and Fiona Worts both looked promising enough to burst the net, but neither eventuated. Nine minutes after the restart, City had the lead – Annalee Grove unable to prevent the ball bundling over the line. Grove, however, was in fine form, as per usual, making a number of quality saves to keep United in the contest and with a chance at claiming something from the fixture. The result sees Adelaide remain in fifth on the ladder, one spot out of the Finals positions.
