"I think they've grown up, they don't want any more embarrassments," said Ferguson. "They've done their best and it was a very good performance.
Ferguson also paid tribute to Copenhagen, who resisted for 40 minutes before Paul Scholes eventually broke the deadlock. The home side went two up through John O'Shea less than a minute into the second half, a goal that effectively ended the game as a contest. "They had a decent technical football team, which is what you get from Scandinavians. But we tried to keep the pace quick and we got a good performance and a good result," said Ferguson.
"After half time, we wanted to be more decisive. With the amount of opportunities we got in the first half it was gratuitous, we should have killed the game."
