It should not have been this way for Yeovil. Having lost the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final 2-0 to their illustrious opponents at Huish Park, few expected anything other than to see Forest waltz their way to Wembley at a packed City Ground. Little was anyone to know, but the 27,819 fans inside the ground on that night were about to witness one of the most extraordinary turnarounds in Football League history.

Anyone who had seen the first leg would have agreed that a two goal advantage flattered Forest. Yeovil were dominant throughout the game, but penalties from Kris Commons and James Perch put them in the driving seat going into the match. For Russell Slade, the game plan was simple, score first and make Forest sweat under the weight of expectation from their supporters, many of whom had already purchased unofficial Wembley merchandise from a club that had already taken delivery of their first batch of final tickets. Still believing, Yeovil gave the travelling faithful the perfect start when Aaron Davies embarked on a fine run before finishing past Paul Smith. Although the Glovers led into half-time, the tie looked done and dusted just two minutes into the second period when Scott Dobie grabbed the equaliser. As the tie entered its final ten minutes, and Forest 3-1 ahead on aggregate, the game appeared to be petering out with one inevitable outcome...

Nottm Forest: Smith, Curtis, Chambers, Breckin, Wright, McGugan (Prutton 62), Perch, Gary Holt, Commons, Dobie (Grant Holt 76), Lester (Morgan 85).
Yeovil: Mildenhall, Lindegaard, Guyett, Forbes, Jones, Gray, Barry, Cohen (Kalala 74), Davies, Morris, Stewart.
