Brazil defied a confident Denmark debut to secure a 3-0 victory in their opening Fifa Under-17 World Cup Group F encounter at Estadio Guadalajara. The Danes enjoyed a stronger start to the match, but two goals from Ademilson and another added by the unlikely Emerson put the game out of reach for the Danish. Upon the first whistle, Denmark embarked on what seemed would be a successful performance in their first Fifa U-17 World Cup match. The Danes diverted away from their standard pacey and direct style, preferring a possession-minded game that troubled the Brazilians throughout the first half. Within four minutes Christian Norgaard had a wide-open effort from outside the area go wide of the net. The feisty midfielder turned provider just two minutes later when he evaded three defenders at the touchline to slot a fine pass back to Kenneth Zohore, whose chance was well saved by goalkeeper Charles. Norgaard seemed content on finding a goal, as he timed his run into the area well to receive a perfect lofted pass from Patrick Olsen. The midfielder caught the pass, hooking a difficult volley on frame under tight defensive pressure, but Charles once again was there to make the save.

 

 

After an onslaught of trouble for their defence, Brazil finally began to settle into the match and developed a fine opportunity of their own, with Adryan, Ademilson and Lucas Piazon all combining atop the area. However, Piazon's effort was easily handled by Oliver Korch.

The development was a sign of things to come, though, as Brazil with their second clear opportunity took the lead in the 32nd minute.

Ademilson was given too much space at the top of area and decided to test Korch with long cross-wise shot that took an awkward bounce with the keeper only able to help the ball make its way into the net. Denmark searched for the equaliser, with Fischer notably dribbling through two defenders in the box, but Charles was their to block the chance with his foot. A Seleção came out much more inspired in the second half, assuming control of the match with a flurry of chances just a few minutes after the restart. Korch was put the test as two quick successive shots were fired his way from Marlon Bica and Lucas Piazon. And Denmark’s golden opportunity to level the score came just moments later in the 55th minute when Fischer ballooned a wide-open chance in front of the goal, after Nicolai Johannessen’s shot had taken a deflection. Brazil were unwilling to drop their opening account of the tournament and put the match beyond doubt with a lovely finish from right-back Wallace in the 57th minute. The defender combined down the flank with Ademilson, and upon receiving the ball back, fired a near-post effort into the net. Capping off the night for the Brazilians was Ademilson at the double. Bica found the on-form striker lurking at the top of the area and the forward turned his defender and hammered a low drive into the left corner. Putting in a fine opening performance with plenty of positives to build upon, the Danes will look to get back on track in their next group match against Côte d'Ivoire on Thursday, while Brazil are set to face Australia.
