Capionato 2010 2011 As Roma Lazio

First and
Second Leg
November 2010 and March 2011

Second Leg
Stadio Olimpico, Roma
13 March 2011
Referee:P. Tagliavento

It’s anyone’s guess as to who will win the famous clash, with both sides reasonably closely matched in the league and the form guide. Lazio currently cling to the final Champions League spot in 4th place and come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win against Palermo, with Roma 6th and their Champions League dream still just about alive.
Roma will want to bounce back from a midweek drubbing at the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk as their European hopes this year came to a crashing halt. For them to have any chance of beating Lazio though, they  they will have to keep the opposition’s talisman Hernanes quiet.

The Brazilian has had a spectacular season to date and has added fuel to an already aggressive fire in making a prediction ahead of kickoff: ”I will score and Lazio will win. I want it to be a wonderful Sunday,” the Biancocelesti’s trequartista said.
He might be right as well, having bagged 7 goals this season – more than any other Biancazzurri player. It is surprising given the lack of media attention that Lazio have had that they are flying so high in the table, but a stubborn defence and an ability of grinding out results has seen them to a joint best home record in Serie A this season and a Champions League spot – for the time being, at least.
Lazio might be flying high, but L’Aeroplanino Vincenzo Montella continues to soar in the league, where he is still unbeaten since taking charge of La Maggica. However the Roma legend who scored four times in one game against Lazio in 2002 concedes that his side are underdogs for Sunday’s fixture. “The favourites? It’s easy to answer, the team who’s ahead in the league table,” the 36-year-old commented.

First Leg
Serie A 2010/11

Week 10
7th november 2010:
Lazio v. Roma

"Losing a Rome derby is never an option, either for Roma or for Lazio, but given the current situation with the Lupi, they cannot afford to drop points against their arch rivals. Claudio Ranieri’s side are currently ninth in Serie A with 12 points from nine matches and with their Scudetto hopes already having disappeared, they now have to start focusing on Champions League qualification and, therefore, cannot drop any points here..."
