Basque giants Athletic enjoyed a rare away win last weekend when they beat Almeria 3-1 in the Monday night offering. Scoring a goal each were Muniain and Toquero. Netting a stunning long range goal that the TV camera's nearly missed was Orbaiz. As I expect most of you know, an injury depleted Real Madrid (3/4) shockingly lost 1-0 at home to Sporting Gijon last weekend. That defeat was Jose Mourinho's first in a home league game for nine years.Los Blancos did beat Spurs 4-0 in the Champions League midweek but, as usual, failed to score anywhere near as many goals as they should have and were aided by Tottenham striker Peter Crouch's early dismissal. Gonzalo Higuain is back to help with the goals, but must score before I consider backing him.To conclude my assessment of the opening game in week 31: I'm hearing rumours that Real and Jose, having conceded the title will field a weakened team tonight. However true this may turn out to be, I just don't buy into Jose willingly conceding anything.

The season that followed the centenary, 2002-03, was expected to feature a few hangovers. There was quite a hullabaloo, most of it focusing on the dodgy knee, the size of the transfer fee (45 million dollars) and the more important fact that the club already had a decent centre-forward in Morientes with a very promising youngster, Portillo, also waiting in the shadows for his turn. Raul, Morientes' friend, was said to disapprove, and Spain's most respected journalists went into the usual frenzy of speculation as to whether the Brazilian and Raul would be compatible.

Barcelone aura attendu 13 journées pour prendre les commandes de la Liga. Après sa démonstration face au réal de Madrid 5-0, Le barca a frappé très fort et devient l’équipe à battre cette saison. Les Blaugrana ont tout les ingrédients réunis pour réussir le doublé Ligue des Champions et Liga cette saison. Avec trois prétendants au ballon d’or 2010, Barcelone est actuellement intouchable. Xavi, Inesta et Messi sont à eux trois le symbole de la réussite Barcelone. Sans oublier une défense intraitable avec seulement 8 buts encaissés en 14 journées. Et que dire de l’attaque de feu et ses 41 buts en championnat.
