Sky Bet Championship
League leaders Burnley put in a five-star performance against Cardiff City as Scott Parker’s men ran out 5-0 winners over the Bluebirds. The Clarets, who have now scored nine goals in their last two outings and sit top of the table on goal difference, have been simply unstoppable upon their return to the Championship as they look to bounce back at the first time of asking. The game of the day came from Ashton Gate where Bristol City edged out Millwall in a seven-goal thriller. The Robins found themselves two goals to the good inside the opening 15 minutes, but the visitors fought back. Neil Harris’ men looked on course to complete a stunning comeback when they made it 3-2 in the second half but Scott Twine, who re-joined Bristol City on a permanent deal on Friday afternoon, marked his second debut with an 88th minute match winner. There was plenty of late drama across the division, too.

Queens Park Rangers rescued a point away at Sheffield United. The Hoops had to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Bramall Lane as Lyndon Dykes popped up with the equaliser with 88 minutes on the watch. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers played out a 2-2 draw with Norwich City. Summer signing Yuki Ohashi’s 87thminute header saw John Eustace’s team take a share of the spoils back to Lancashire. Elsewhere, Watford continued their perfect start to the season as Tom Cleverley’s men made it consecutive wins in a 3-0 triumph over Stoke City. Swansea City also recorded an identical 3-0 victory over manageress Preston North End on home turf. And Wayne Rooney put his first point on the board in charge of Plymouth Argyle as the Pilgrims drew 1-1 with Hull City. In the early kick-offs, Derby County got up and running in the Championship in a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough as Kayden Jackson scored the only goal of the game for the Rams. And both Portsmouth v Luton Town and West Bromwich Albion v Leeds United finished goalless.
