The Matildas have lost to old foes Canada in their final match of the year, beaten 1-0 after a first-half goal from Quinn. The game against reigning Olympic gold medallists Canada in Vancouver also marked the final appearance of Christine Sinclair, football's all-team leading international goal-scorer. Most of the players will go back to their Women’s Super League clubs. Trio Steph Catley, Caitlin Foord and Kyra Cooney-Cross return to Arsenal, Alanna Kennedy and Mary Fowler head back to Manchester City, and Tameka Yallop and Emily van Egmond return to the A-League. The next time we see the Matildas will be in February when they play Uzbekistan in a two-legged playoff for a spot in the Olympics.
