AGMK, knocked out already, will play their final game in the current edition next week against Air Force Club of Iraq, while Al Ittihad face IR Iran’s Sepahan on the same day. Al Ittihad started the game well, being head coach Marcelo Gallardo’s first ever AFC Champions League game, the team looked well oiled from the start and chances fell to Karim Benzema and Abderrazak Hamdallah early on, but Valijon Rahimov managed to stop both.

The scoring was opened 30 minutes into the game, with the Jeddah-based side going route-one exploiting the high defensive line deployed by Mirjalol Qosimov when Fabinho sent the marginally onside Hamdallah through with a long ball, leaving the Moroccan with the task of burying to make the score 1-0. The lead was doubled just four minutes later through Hamdallah as well, following some brilliant build up that involved Saleh Al Amri making a run down the right, with Muhannad Al Shanqeeti making the overlap and receiving Al Amri’s ball before cutting it back to the unmarked Moroccan forward who made no mistake lashing into the net.  Benzema almost got his first of the game late in the first half when he combined with Al Amri to play some eye-watering one-two football at the edge of the area before the Frenchman found himself free on goal and took a shot, but Rahimov managed to keep it out.
