Villarreal Women, after an important win against Deportivo Alavés, were unable to get a point away to Sevilla FC. The team coached by Sara Monforte lost 1-0, thanks to a goal by Ana Franco. Villarreal Women came out all guns blazing from the opening whistle. In fact, with high pressing, they made it difficult for the Sevilla attack. Monforte’s side also managed to create some dangerous chances through transitions. The game looked set to change when Nerea inadvertently handled the ball inside the area. However, Carmen Carbonell saved Amanda Sampedro’s spot-kick. A few minutes later, Franco had another chance, but Carmen again pulled off a masterful save to send the game into half-time with the score level (0-0). In the second half, Sevilla FC were quick off the mark. Franco beat the defence and goalkeeper to make it 1-0, which was how the match ended. The Yellows tried everything they could, enjoying a number of chances in the box, but without getting the final reward of a goal.
