It was an all-timer as Hampden nights go as a packed out national stadium watched a famous victory over Spain. Scott McTominay, who emerged from the bench to put the Cyprus clash to bed, was the Hampden hero once more as he popped up with a double that sunk an out of sorts Spanish team. Eyebrows were raised when Luis de la Fuente named eight changes and they proved justified when McTominay struck early to send the Tartan Army into dreamland. The Spanish pressed, hitting the bar and forcing a couple of saves from Angus Gunn but the Scots' cool and composure never wavered. And when McTominay popped up with his fourth goal in his last hour of football for Steve Clarke's team, it was never really slipping from there. It means it's two wins from two for Steve Clarke's team who have given themselves a serious headstart in the race to Germany 2024.
