Isuzu UTE A-League Men players, clubs and fans will hold a moment of silence at the start of each of this weekend’s matches, the opening round of the 2022-2023 Isuzu UTE A-League while players will wear a black-arm band. Commissioner of the A-Leagues Greg O’Rourke said the terrible event in Indonesia on the weekend had a profound impact on the football community around the world. “The Australian Professional Leagues offer its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the terrible events at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang over the weekend. “Football is a sport enjoyed by billions of people around the world, none more so than in Indonesia, where the game is played and followed with a passion by many millions. “The thousands of football fans in attendance on Saturday at Malang’s Kanjuruhan Stadium where 131 died and hundreds more were injured – would no doubt have been passionate about football and their club. “The world football community including here in Australia has reacted with great sadness to this tragic event.
“Once again, we offer our condolences to those impacted by this horrific event and hope the collective sympathies of A-Leagues players and fans over the weekend can bring some small solace to the Indonesian football community.”
