Roma comfortably progressed through the second round of the Champion’s League following a 4-1 victory over Sparta Prague in Rome.  Much like the first-leg, the visitors took a surprising lead against the run of play when Perta Bertholdová ghosted in at the back post and met a corner on the volley, leaving Camelia Ceasar with no chance. The Italian side reacted quickly though as Carina Wenninger drew them level ten minutes later from a corner of their own. Wenninger rose highest at the back post and planted her header back across goal to make it 1-1. It would remain even until after the break when Roma would complete the turnaround. Another corner proved crucial in this match as the Sparta defence were unable to clear their lines allowing Andressa Alves to poke home from close range. Two goals in 10-minutes would seal the victory for the hosts as Moeka Minamo found the back of the net from close range before Emilie Haavi’s low strike made it 4-1 (6-2 on aggregate).
