Kaizer Chiefs proved too strong for Maritzburg United on matchday two of the 2022-23 PSL season as they claimed an impressive 3-0 win. Amakhosi had a two-goal lead at half-time with Ashley du Preez and Keagan Dolly having netted in the first half. Teenage sensation Mduduzi Shabalala sealed Amakhosi's victory in stoppage time in what was his second official appearance for the club's first team, and the Soweto giants registering their maiden win of the campaign. With his side having started the new season with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Royal AM on Saturday, Arthur Zwane made two changes to the starting line-up as the Chiefs coach handed Dillon Solomons and George Matlou their full debuts for the Glamour Boys. While Maritzburg were also hoping to secure their first win of the season after drawing 1-1 with Sekhukhune United over the weekend. John Maduka named an unchanged team with the Malawian coach having masterminded two wins over Chiefs last season while in charge of Royal AM.
