L’heure de vérité approche pour la sélection nationale U23 su Qatar qui vient de finir sa préparation la phase finale de la Coupe d’Asie des nations de la catégorie qui se tiendra du 1er au 19 juin en Ouzbékistan.  Les  protégés  du sélectionneur  Nicolas Cordova ont croisé le fer en amical  avec la Jordanie (1-1) lors d’un stage commencé le 21 mai et qui prendra fin le 28 du mois. Le Qatar a ouvert le score pour les locaux par   Hashem Ali  (9e) avant de se faire rejoindre suite à but  jordanien signé Mohammed Abu Rezek (20′).Les deux équipes doivent s’affontelors d’ un nouveau test le 27 mai.  Pour mémoire, en Ouzbékistan  les Marrons de Doha  évolueront dans le groupe A avec l’Iran, l’Ouzbékistan et le Turkménistan.

Uzbekistan took the early lead in Group A after their 1-0 win over Turkmenistan, and following Qatar’s 1-1 draw with Islamic Republic of Iran, victory against the young Maroons will see the hosts inch closer to a third successive knockout stage appearance.  Uzbekistan recorded a thumping 22 total shots in their opener, but it took an Ulugbek Khoshimov penalty to seal the win, and head coach Timur Kapadzehas been concentrating on fixing that ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Pakhtakor Stadium. Qatar will be aiming to get their campaign back on track, having been denied by Iran who equalised in the final minute of regulation time.  Nicolas Cordova’s side showed that despite limited possession, they could still make the most of their chances and the Chilean firmly believes his charges will get better as the tournament progresses.
