Chelsea overcame Tottenham for the second time in five days to extend their lead at the top of the Women's Super League to four points. Beth England continued her fine recent form by heading in the opener from Jonna Andersson's cross. Spurs levelled against the run of play through Kerys Harrop's free header, but the Blues hit back immediately with Sam Kerr calmly restoring their lead. Erin Cuthbert hit the post as the hosts missed chances to settle their nerves.

Emma Hayes' side, who have played a game more than their title rivals Arsenal, will be certain of a third consecutive league title if they win their final two games. Kerr told Sky Sports she was spurred on to score the winner by "built-up anger and adrenaline" at conceding to Spurs just before the interval. She said that her team had to "dig deep" to claim the victory, adding: "They've taken big points off big clubs this year so we knew it wasn't going to be easy. "They're a good team so it does feel like a good three points but any win is an important win now - there are two games to go and we're just going to grind through. If we get all six points we're champions."
