Khumbulani Konco has made a return to football after being appointed in an important role as part of the management structure at Chippa United.Konco has been out of the football space since parting ways with Celtic in March last year before the team was sold to Royal AM at the end of last season. “Chippa United FC are proud to announce the appointment of former Bloemfontein Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco. Khumbulani has been appointed to fill the role of club Chief Operations Officer (COO), following the position being left vacant by the promotion of club Executive Director, Mr Lukanyo Mzinzi in January 2022,” Chippa confirmed in the club’s official statement.

As confirmed by the Confederation of African Football’s media, the Mbwekweni-born winger has highlighted his name in the content. According to the pick, Memela was one of the best performers in the CAF Champions League round of action last week, thanks to his fabulous goal against Horoya in the 1-0 win at Moses Mabhida last Friday.The former Orlando Pirates star was not the only DStv Premiership star in the team. Also in the CAF Champions League Team of the Week is Mamelodi Sundowns’ center back Brian Mandela Onyango.AmaZulu’s next CAFCL game is on Friday against Tunisian giants Setif in eThekwini, while Sundowns will battle the mighty Al Ahly in Cairo on the same day.
