With Brobbey, Ajax got off to an excellent start in the new year. The team of trainer Erik ten Hag was lord and master in the first half hour in the empty Galgenwaard. De eindstand stond toen al op het scorebord. "Ik kon op zich wel verder, maar de trainer wilde mij eraf halen. Ik ben bijna op honderd procent. Bij RB Leipzig heb ik niet zoveel gespeeld. Het is nog een beetje inkomen, maar ik ben er bijna." Van dat 'inkomen' was weinig te zien op het veld. Brobbey speelde goed en verdiende zijn goals. "Ik hoef me niet zoveel aan te passen, omdat ik hier al elf jaar rondloop. Daarom weet ik ook wat de trainer van me wil."
In het gesprek met de sportzender ging de aanvaller ook nog in op zijn situatie in Leipzig. De Duitsers gaven de Ajacied nog een boodschap mee toen hij weer terugkeerde naar Ajax.
"Ze zeiden dat ik mijn rust in Amsterdam moest zoeken en mijn best moest doen. Ik heb veel geleerd in Duitsland. Ook buiten het voetbal om. Ik was daar in mijn eentje, zonder moeder of vader. Dan moet je een man zijn. Dat was best zwaar."
