Liverpool claimed a stunning victory that shook Old Trafford to its foundations as Rafa Benitez's Reds came from behind to wallop the Premier League leaders and revive their own title bid.
Cristiano Ronaldo fired United ahead, but a Fernando Torres strike and a Steven Gerrard penalty put a Liverpool side brimming with confidence following a 4-0 win against Real Madrid days earlier into the ascendancy. Rafa's side could smell blood and when centre-back Nemanja Vidic, who had been terrorized by Torres, was sent off for a foul on Gerrard, Fabio Aurelio curled home the resulting free-kick. Substitute Andrea Dossena lobbed Edwin van der Sar late on to complete the scoring.
