The game between Liverpool and Newcastle was the greatest ever seen on Premier League, writes Stan Collymore in the Sunday People. Manchester City fans, particularly the younger ones, will say it should be the 6-1 win at Manchester United or the 3-2 victory against QPR with the Agueroooo goal.
And United fans might argue that the 4-3 against City was better. But those games were notable for dazzling moments, for 15 or 20-minute periods, whereas that game at Anfield in 1996 was spellbinding throughout.

It was thrilling, end-to-end stuff with Les Ferdinand, David Ginola and Tino Asprilla on target for Newcastle and me and Robbie Fowler, with two apiece, bagging the replies. Steve McManaman was at his best for us as he ran with the ball and two old warriors in John Barnes and Ian Rush, both coming to the end of their careers, were superb. The game, settled by my 90th-minute winner, had great performances from players on both sides – individually and collectively – and for a club of Liverpool’s stature to produce a DVD of it shows just how spectacular it was.
