It was a day of salvation for Notts County as they sealed promotion to EFL League One after beating Salford City 3-0 in the Playoffs final. Playing at Wembley Stadium in London, Salford City, co-owned by David Beckham, suffered a humiliating defeat. The win means that Notts County, who were playing non-league football three seasons before, are now just two steps away from the Premier League. Just before halftime, a well-executed free-kick resulted in Lucas Ness doubling the lead with a towering header. The victory was finalised in the 69th minute when Jodi Jones, capping off a stellar individual performance, tapped in a cross from Conor Grant to make it 3-0. For Notts County, the win marks a return to the third tier of English football for the first time in 11 years, continuing an impressive upward trajectory since their 2023 promotion from the National League.
