Al Ahli Saudi FC head coach Matthias Jaissle credited his team’s second half performance against Vissel Kobe on Monday for leading the defending champions into the AFC Champions League Elite Finals Jeddah decider on Saturday. The Saudi Pro League side trailed at halftime to a 31st minute Yoshinori Muto goal but a thunderous strike by Galeno levelled the scores in the 62nd minute and Ivan Toney won the tie for the Jeddah-based club with a perfect finish eight minutes later. “We’re really proud again to be in the final, back-to-back is something special and a huge honour and privilege,” said Jaissle. “The game was not easy, as always in this stage, in a semi-final in this competition. “Details decided the game. We struggled a bit to defend set-pieces, where Kobe were really good. “In the second half we also played the game which was needed according to the pitch. This pitch is not easy to play on and that made things better, also we needed some special moments in the game like the goal from Galeno, which was amazing."
