The United States women’s soccer team missed the chance to claim a sixth consecutive SheBelieves Cup title after losing 2-1 to Japan in Wednesday’s tournament finale at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. Japan’s Yuka Momiki and Toko Koga scored in each half against the Americans, as the Nadeshiko lifted the trophy for the first time in their fifth appearance at the four-team invitational competition. It also marked the USWNT’s first defeat under coach Emma Hayes, who has been in charge of 18 matches since debuting in June 2024.
