Auckland FC were left frustrated on Wednesday afternoon at Go Media Stadium, after they were held to a 0-0 draw in a clash of first against third on the A-League Men ladder. The home team created better chances to win than their opponents, Melbourne Victory, but were unable to convert any of them, and had to settle for one point instead of three. That grew Auckland’s lead over second-placed Adelaide United from four points to five, but an even greater leap forward had been there for the taking, with Victory one of the newcomers’ top rivals for the minor premiership.
