Birmingham City forward Lucy Quinn was named as Player of the Month after emerging victorious in the combined public and panel vote. Kicking off the campaign with two goals in the Blues’ 5-0 opening day victory over Sunderland, she then turned provider a fortnight later when assisting Lee Geum-min for her first goal for the club, as well as teeing up Louise Quinn for the final goal in a 4-0 win over Portsmouth. The player with the most goal involvements of anyone so far this term in the second tier, Quinn saw off competition from Durham’s Lily Crosthwaite, Charlton Athletic’s Elisha N’Dow and Southampton’s Rachel Rowe to take the accolade. Goal of the Month meanwhile was awarded to London City Lionesses’ Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah for her long-range strike in a 2-1 victory over Bristol City. Boye-Hlorkah’s audacious effort from inside the centre circle came out on top in the public vote, beating Southampton quartet Aimee Palmer (v Bristol City), Freya Gregory (v Sheffield United), Rianna Dean and Molly Pike (v Sunderland), alongside Durham’s Beth Hepple (v Portsmouth) to the award. Elsewhere, the League Managers’ Association announced last week that Charlton Athletic manager Karen Hills had been voted Manager of the Month for September by a panel of Faye White, Mo Marley MBE, Brent Hills, Jen O’Neill, Alan Curbishley, and Mollie Kmita.
