Celtic have lifted their 42nd Scottish Gas Scottish Cup after a last-gasp 1-0 win over Rangers to complete the Double at a sun-soaked Hampden Park. Adam Idah came off the bench to grab the vital goal in the 90th minute and win what was a cagey contest and secure the 150th Scottish Cup for Brendan Rodgers. The Irish striker showed a killer instinct to follow up fellow sub Paulo Bernardo's effort from distance and was rewarded as Jack Butland spilled it into his path and he wasn't going to miss.
It was the first meeting of these two sides in the Final since 2002 and while this one lacked the flurry of goals that remarkable 3-2 Rangers triumph had, it had all the blood and thunder of an Old Firm contest. hilippe Clement's side thought they had taken the lead on the hour as James Tavernier's delivery found its way to the back post where it hit substitute Abdallah Sima on his knee and went over the line, but a VAR check ruled the goal out for a push by Nico Raskin on Joe Hart. Both sides felt they were denied in the first half by the referee as first Ben Davies avoided sanction for a handball incident in the box, as the ball ricocheted off Kyogo’s back and onto his arm from the shortest of distances, while Liam Scales escaped after barging Dujon Sterling’s back as he looked to break into the box in what was a scrappy first half.
It's Celtic who will lift the famous old trophy after another win in this fixture, with four wins and a draw from the five contests this season.
