Orlando Pirates stage a comeback to secure a 3-2 victory in the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday. The Glamour Boys got off to a flying start when Ashley Du Preez broke the deadlock within the first six minutes, unleashing a left-footed strike into the top corner after being set up by Pule Mmodi. As the game progressed, the Sea Robbers intensified their pressure on their opponents, resulting in Monnapule Saleng equalizing in the 24th minute with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box. Despite the Buccaneers gaining momentum after levelling the score, they struggled to create clear opportunities. However, just before halftime, Du Preez secured his brace to give Chiefs a 2-1 lead going into the break.
In the second half, Jose Riveiro's side came out strong, and Thabiso Lebitso's long-range effort found the back of the net in the 58th minute to level the score at 2-2. Saleng then completed his brace in the 68th minute, putting Pirates ahead 3-2. As the match neared its end, the tension remained high, but Bucs managed to secure their 3-2 victory, propelling them to second place in the Premier Soccer League standings, while Chiefs find themselves in seventh position.
