The first Semifinal of the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup saw Brazil take the first spot in the big Final by downing Mexico with a 3-0 win on Wednesday afternoon at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.Mexico had the first look at goal from a free kick in the 9’ when FW Maria Sanchez tried to surprise GK Luciana by sending the ball close to the post, but the Brazilian GK made the stop. Brazil opened the scoring 1-0 in the 21’ after MF Adriana Leal took advantage of a mis-played clearance in the area by DF Nicolette Hernandez, by taking the rebound and putting the ball in the back of the net. The Verdeamarela didn't hold back and saw things swing in their favor in the 29’ when Bia Zaneratto was fouled by Hernandez just outside the area on a breakaway, and after a VAR review, Hernandez was sent off. The Selecao added another goal to their count in the 32’ with a low banger from outside the box by DF Antonia, giving Brazil a 2-0 advantage.

Mexico tried to pull one back before the halftime whistle from a free kick outside the box in the 45'+4 by DF Karen Luna, who sent the ball wide of the post. The third goal of the game for Brazil came after a great open play in the box in the 48’, with MF Yasmin getting the ball in the area and displaying Brazil’s famous ‘joga bonito’ with a backheel kick that Mexican GK Esthefanny Barreras couldn't stop. Mexico tried to pull a goal back when star FW Jaqueline Ovalle stepped up in the 65’, getting past the Brazilian defensive line on the left side of the pitch and shooting just inside the box, with the ball going wide off the post. With this result, Brazil becomes the first finalist of the inaugural W Gold Cup.
