Maurizio Ganz’s side headed into the clash with eight points, sitting in sixth place, and just one point ahead of Sampdoria. A win, in short, was certainly necessary after what has been a rather poor start to the season. Asllani gave Milan the lead with a composed finish after seven minutes. However, in the end, it wasn’t enough as Sampdoria converted a penalty in the second half. Considering some of the chances at the end, the Rossonere certainly could have regained the lead.
