Le Revolution de la Nouvelle-Angleterre a prolongé à 10 matchs sa séquence sans subir la défaite devant ses partisans grâce à une victoire de 2 à 1 sur le Toronto FC. Le Toronto FC a pourtant amorcé le match en force grâce au but de DeAndre Kerr dès la 11e minute pour mettre les visiteurs aux commandes. Le TFC a d'ailleurs dominé la rencontre avec 10 tirs cadrés contre 2 pour le Revolution. Deux tirs cadrés, c'est tout ce dont avait besoin la Nouvelle-Angleterre. Bobby Wood, à la 33e minute, et Giacomo Vrioni, à la 52e, ont fait vibrer les cordages sur les seuls tirs des locaux à toucher le cadre du gardien Greg Ranjitsingh. Avec cette victoire, le Revolution affiche maintenant sept victoires et trois matchs nuls devant ses partisans. Toronto n'a toujours pas goûté à la victoire à l'étranger, affichant un rendement de six défaites et quatre rencontres nulles.

But New England rallied for a 2-1 win on goals by Bobby Wood, in the 33rd minute, and substitute Giacomo Vrioni, in the 52nd. While Toronto outshot New England 14-12 (10-2 in shots on target), both teams finished with an XG (expected goals) of 0.8. “We took the lead away from home against a top team in the league and then I think we were defending well,” said Kerr. “It was just two moments we switch off. They score and then we’re playing comeback away from home against a team like that. It made it tough for ourselves.” Adding to TFC’s pain was an offside ruling that negated a Lorenzo Insigne goal in the 90th minute. Toronto coach Bob Bradley headed to referee Ted Unkel after the final whistle, not happy with the call.
