Juilo Cruz swooped twice in the first half to give Inter a four-point cushion ahead of the remainder of the weekend's fixtures. Roberto Sosa's header with five minutes remaining proved to be little more than a consolation for Napoli, who put in a performance that did little to justify their lofty position in Serie A. Inter were rampant during the opening period, and the visitors were lucky not to have gone into the dressing rooms at the break more than just two goals down. Zlatan Ibrahimovic took to the field from the first whistle, despite suggestions that he may be rested with international duty for Sweden on the horizon, and he very nearly made an immediate impact. But his snap shot in the third minute blazed over the bar.
