The entertaining 1999 fixture between Manchester United and Liverpool was a memorable game for United but, perhaps, one Jamie Carragher would like to forget altogether.
The 3-2 spectacle swung both ways, ending with United clinching the win. Liverpool got off to a disastrous start in defence as an own goal from Carragher in the 3rd minute and poor defending in the 18th allowed Manchester United to take a 2-0 lead. Liverpool managed to reduce United's lead after 23 minutes when Sami Hyypia headed the ball into an open net from a free kick.
However, just before halftime United's lead is extended to two goals once again as Carragher disastrously scored his second own goal of the match. Patrick Berger managed to redeem Liverpool in the second half as he pushed the ball past Taibi into the net, however, it was too little too late for the Reds.
