Manchester United managed a 3-3 draw against Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day 1992. United were three goals down by the 62nd minute, but a brace by Brian McClair and a goal from Eric Cantona saved the visitors from the jaws of defeat.Manchester United staged an amazing comeback as they hit back from being three goals down with little more than twenty minutes left. Sheffield Wednesday stormed into an early 1-0 lead when England international David Hirst blasted a low and powerful shot past the arms of away goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net with less than two minutes on the clock at Hillsborough, and just four minutes later The Owls had their second goal of the day as former Crystal Palace striker

Mark Bright scored with a close range finish. In the second half of the tie, Sheridan completed his double two minutes past the hour mark when he beat Schmeichel from the edge of the six-yard box to hand Sheffield Wednesday a 3-0 advantage, but Manchester United finally woke up after 67 minutes as Brian McClair headed home a cross ball from midfielder Lee Sharpe. And with ten minutes remaining on the watch, McClair found the net again from another Sharpe cross, and four minutes afterwards Eric Cantona equalised from yet another cross by the playmaker.
