A memorable Simod Cup final at Wembley saw two teams attack from the outset and it was Everton who took the lead through Tony Cottee on eight minutes. Garry Parker equalised for The Reds on the half-hour, but Everton's advantage was restored just after half-time through Graeme Sharp. It was 2-2 on 67 minutes as Parker scored one of the great Wembley goals following a swift counter attack. Extra-time followed and just two minutes into it, Lee Chapman put Forest ahead for the first time.Cottee scored his second of the game to level the scores once more, but just three minutes from time Chapman popped up to score the winning goal and give The Reds the trophy.
