Sporting Kansas City continue their nomadic early-season run with a trip to the Pacific Northwest today to face the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Both teams come into this clash 1-1 and both teams will be looking to rebound from disappointing performances last week. Both teams will be without their respective designated players, as both Omar Bravo for SKC and Eric Hassli for the ‘Caps are suspended. Both squads will be looking to attack from the off despite lacking their respective top scorers. SKC will still have Canadian-born striker Teal Bunbury at their disposal. Sporting manager Peter Vermes loves to attack and his counterpart Teitur Thordason’s side certainly looked to be a very attacking side last week against the Philadelphia Union, so this could still be a goal-filled affair. Add that to the fact that both Vancouver goalkeepers are carrying slight knocks and Kansas City’s early season defense has been leaky at best and we could have the makings of 5+ goal game.

Jay DeMerit and Michael Boxall are available for Vancouver again after missing the last game for national team duty and keeper Jay Nolly is hoping to return from the shoulder injury that kept him out of the trip to the City of Brotherly Love. For Sporting Kansas City central defender Julio Cesar is a game-time decision as is rightback Michael Harrington.

Teal Bunbury, the Canadian-born striker netted last week against Chicago and will look to continue his goal scoring run today. There are still questions as to whether he is 90-minutes fit, but even if he’s not he’s more than capable of causing problems for the Vancouver defense.
Terry Dunfield, the tough-tackling midfielder was acting captain last week in the absense of Jay Demerit. His performances thus far have been very good. His distribution has been good and he’s partnered well Gershon Koffie. He’ll need to be on top of his game to neutralize Milos Stojcev and Davy Arnaud.
