On 3rd March 1973, Spurs won their second League Cup (the first club to win League Cup twice), just 2 years after winning their first. Just like Villa in 1971, Spurs struggled to overcome the Canaries in a final they were hot favourites for. Unlike Villa, who’d played well and attacked, Norwich were stubbonly defensive on the day. Not the greatest game, but a memorable winning goal from Spurs substitute Ralph Coates, 18 minutes from time was all that separated the two teams.
