In 1959 Nottingham Forest won the FA Cup with only nine players left on the pitch at the final whistle. It took Nottingham Forest just 14 minutes to establish a two goal lead over Luton Town during the cup final in 1959. Spectators say it could have been more if it wasn't for the injury to goal-scorer Roy Dwight in the 33rd minute. In those days you weren't allowed substitutes so Forest had to play on with 10 men.

Luton pulled one back after 66 minutes but Forest hung on, even after defender Bill Whare was taken off with cramp. It's gone down in history as a classic and it's inspired David McVay to write 'And the Ref Was Called Clough'.
