CSKA Moscow justified the favourite’s tag with the narrow victory in Thessaloniki, but they cannot afford to relax just yet as PAOK have nothing to lose and they can be very dangerous in Moscow. Leonid Slutski’s team are still a bit rusted as their domestic season doesn’t resume for another 20 days, but they should have enough in them to see off PAOK. Vagner Love has resumed training and he could play some part in this match, while Alan Dzagoev is likely to return to the starting line-up.
The Greeks, on the other hand, are in a very difficult position after losing the first match, but they are still hoping to produce a major upset and make it to the next round. Boss Ioakim Havos is worried by the artificial pitch and freezing conditions in Moscow, while team’s away record in Europe also gives him headaches. The good news is that the boss will have full squad to choose from, although that is unlikely to help the visitors achieve a positive result in Moscow.
